One-point
1 to 2 sessions
A single subject, like a koi or peony, on an upper arm or calf.
Half sleeve
4 to 6 sessions
Shoulder to elbow, with background.
Full sleeve
8 to 12 sessions
Shoulder to wrist, often with part of the chest.
Back piece
8 to 15 sessions
Shoulders to the backs of the knees, the largest single canvas.
Session counts are typical, not promises. Skin, detail, and colour all change the number. We give you an estimate at the consultation.

How projects work
- Consultation
- We talk about the subject, the placement, and how big it should be. Bring references if you like.
- Drawing
- Your artist draws the design to fit your body. You see it before the first session.
- Outline
- The first session is usually the outline, done in one or two sittings.
- Sessions
- Shading and colour follow every 3 to 4 weeks. A $200 deposit holds your project and comes off the last session.

The studio
Tide and Peony is a two-artist studio on Dundas West working in the Japanese tradition: dragons, koi, peonies, waves, and the backgrounds that tie them together.
Large work is a commitment for both of us. We plan it with you, draw it to your body, and tattoo it over regular sessions.
Questions
How long does a back piece take?
Usually 8 to 15 sessions over one to two years, depending on detail, colour, and how you heal.
Do I have to commit to a full sleeve?
No. Many projects start with one piece and grow. We will plan it so it can connect later.
Can you add to someone else's work?
Often yes. Bring photos to the consultation and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
