Longhand Tattoo · Guelph

From idea to healed, step by step.

Getting a custom tattoo is easier than it looks. Here is exactly what happens, from the first conversation to the day it has healed.

How it works

  1. The artist sitting in the studio, ready to talk

    01

    Consult

    20 minutes

Tell us your idea, where it goes, and how big. Bring photos you like. We talk about style, placement, and price, and book your session.

  2. A hand-drawn tattoo design on paper

    02

    Drawing

    Sent before your session

We draw your design and send it to you. Small changes are part of the process, so say what you would change.

  3. A purple stencil on a forearm being lined

    03

    Stencil

    On the day

We print the design as a stencil and place it on your skin. You check it in the mirror and we move it until it sits right.

  4. A black and grey wolf being tattooed

    04

    Session

    Depends on size

Lines first, then shading. We take breaks whenever you need them and wrap it when we are done.

  5. A healed black and grey sleeve

    05

    Healed

    2 to 3 weeks

Follow the aftercare we send you. Come back for a free touch-up within 3 months if any spot needs it.

First-timer questions

Does it hurt?

Some. Most people describe it as a scratch or a sting. We take breaks whenever you need them.

What should I do before my session?

Sleep well, eat a full meal, and wear clothes that let us reach the spot easily.

How long does healing take?

The surface usually heals in 2 to 3 weeks. We send you aftercare in writing.

The studio

Longhand is a one-artist studio on Wyndham Street. Most of our clients are getting their first or second tattoo, so we take the time to explain each step and answer every question.
